Statute of Limitation on Traffic tickets in California?

Currently I have a perfect driving record with 0 points on my record. I received a call this morning from Ventura County Supreme Courts saying I received a speeding ticket 5 years ago and it fell through the cracks they have note asses a late fee or a warrant but that the original $335.00 is owed immediately. They made one attempt to send a courtesy note showing what I owe and when it’s owed by. This courtesy note went to the wrong address and never made it to me but i do understand it is only a courtesy. Once again this was 5 years ago when they sent it. I don’t even know if I paid it or not and cannot find bank statements dating back that far. I called the Courts and they said Statute of Limitation does not exist on traffic tickets in California. Is this true? What do you suggest my next step is? Do I go speak to a judge? I don’t even know if it’s worth it being its only 335 bucks. It’s just the principle at this point.

The statutes of limitations limit the time from when the crime occurred until the time you are charged. With a traffic ticket the two happen nearly simultaneously. The officer observes the infraction, issues a ticket and sends it in. The trial date has come and gone.

The fine is the sentence for the infraction. There is no SoL for that.
