Traffic ticket… Should I go to court?

I got a ticket recently for not properly stopping at a stop sign. I was in a neighborhood right next to my house. I live in California and live in Orange County. Im pretty sure i stopped for atleast 2 seconds before accelerating past the stop sign because there was a car taking a right perpendicular to my car and i waited for him to finish taking the right before going. The cop said I did a “California Stop” and he said I didnt come to a complete stop. I was wondering if I should contest the ticket, and what is the possiblility I can win the ticket. Also I am wondering if anyone every tried fighting a ticket and the cop didnt show up, and what the ticket was for.
