Will a traffic warrant follow me from Utah to Texas?
In August of 2007 I got a traffic ticket in Utah. I was unable to pay it at the time and it turned into a warrant. I recently moved to Texas and I wanted to take care of the warrant but when I called the court house in Utah they told me I could pay the warrant, but I would have to show up in court because all traffic warrants are mandatory court apperances. I am unable to go that far and I told them this. They seemed uninterrested in the fact that I couldn’t show up in court and they said that the warrant would be placed back on again so in other words I would pay the warrant for no reason.
I am not sure what to do as I have no way of getting back to Utah for at least a couple of years.
Better find a a way or hire a lawyer because if that is an active warrant you will eventually be picked up in Texas on the warrant, will Utah extradite you back to Utah, probably not, but you will be arrested on the outstanding warrant in Texas, detained until Texas finds out from Utah what Utah wants to do, Then when Texas releases you the warrant is still active and you can be picked up again
